- The SMG HMR 9 is unlocked through a series of challenges, not through the traditional Battle Pass system.
- These challenges are divided into four sections: Jack Thunder LMG Kit: Get 10 operators or special zombie kills while aiming down sights.
- Undead Slayer: Get 10 kills against special zombies like mimics, manglers, and disciples.
- Hipfire Hero: Get 10 operators or special zombie hipfire kills.
- Headshot Hunter: Get 10 operator headshots or special zombie critical kills.
- Tactical Master: Get 10 operators or special zombie kills with Tactical Sprint (ADS and press down on D-pad).
- Once you complete all four sections, the SMG HMR 9 will be unlocked for you!

Head over to your battle pass section, and you’ll notice a new area dedicated to the HMR-9. You must complete all four sections of the battle pass to unlock this weapon.
Step 2: Challenges, Not Tokens
Unlike regular battle pass unlocks, the HMR-9 requires completing challenges. Here are the specific challenges you need to conquer:
- Jack Thunder LMG Kit Challenge
- Objective: Get 10 operator or special zombie kills while aiming down sights.
- Tip: Play in zombie mode and target special zombies like mimics, manglers, and disciples.
- Hitfire Kills Challenge
- Objective: Achieve 10 operator or special zombie hipfire kills.
- Tip: Multiplayer is recommended for faster completion, but you can also kill special zombies with hipfire in zombie mode.
- Emblem Challenge
- Objective: Secure 10 operator headshots or special zombie critical kills.
- Tip: Aim for headshots in multiplayer or against special zombies’ critical spots in zombie mode.
- T STS with SMGs Challenge
- Objective: Get 10 operators or special zombie kills with T STS activated using SMGs.
- Tip: Activate T STS (tactical stance) by aiming down sights and pressing down on your d-pad or the designated key on your keyboard.
Step 3: Unlock the SMG HMR-9
Once you complete all four challenges, the SMG HMR-9 will be unlocked. No additional steps are required.
Tips for Completing the Challenges:
- Zombies: If you’re struggling to find special zombies, try doing a Tier 2 Escort Contract or heading to an X-Ville Zone and calling in the X-Ville Chopper. This will spawn several Manglers each time, making it easy to rack up kills.
- Multiplayer: Smaller maps like Shipment or Rio can make the challenges easier and quicker to complete.
Additional Notes:
- You don’t need any Battle Pass tokens to unlock the SMG HMR 9, just some good old-fashioned skill and perseverance.
