Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is a new action RPG from Don’t Nod, the makers of Life is Strange and Vampyr. In this game, you play as a pair of ghost hunters who explore a haunted settlement in 1600s America.
Along the way, you will encounter various ghosts, some of whom you can banish, ascend, or blame, depending on your choices.
One of the side quests in the game is called Bible Studies, which requires you to find and collect 15 copies of the King James Bible scattered around New Eden. These Bibles are related to the story of Marcy Batcheler, a woman who was accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake.
Finding all the Bibles will unlock the Teacher’s Pet trophy or achievement and learn more about Marcy’s tragic fate.
This guide will show you the locations of all 15 Bibles in the game and the steps to start and complete the quest.
Step 1 – Complete the “Saints and Sinners” Haunting Case and make sure to banish Marcy Batcheler at the end of the case
The first step to unlock the Bible Studies quest is to complete the Saints and Sinners haunting case, which is one of the main missions in the game. This case involves investigating the Old Church in the Harrows district, where you will encounter the ghost of Marcy Batcheler.
To complete this case, you must use Antea’s spirit abilities and Red’s weapons to solve puzzles, fight enemies, and interact with objects. The case will end with a confrontation with Marcy, who will reveal her backstory and ask for your help. You will have three options: banish, ascend, or blame her.
To unlock the Bible Studies quest, you must choose to banish Marcy, which means you will use Antea’s power to send her to the afterlife.
This will anger Marcy, who will curse and warn you about the Bibles. If you choose to ascend or blame Marcy, you cannot start the quest.
Step 2 – Rest at a shelter or continue with other missions, then head to the board in The Harrows to pick up the “Bible Studies” side quest
After you banish Marcy, you must rest at a shelter or continue with other missions until the next day. Then, you will need to head to the board in the Harrows district, where you will find a new side quest called Bible Studies. The quest description will say:
Marcy Batcheler was a teacher who taught the children of New Eden how to read and write using the King James Bible. She was accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake by the Puritans. Her ghost haunts the Old Church, where she hid 15 copies of the bible before her death. Find them all and learn the truth about her life and death.
To start the quest, you must accept it from the board. Then, you must find and collect all 15 bibles in the game.
A blue glow marks the Bibles and can be picked up by pressing the interact button. Each bible will have a number and a verse, giving you a clue about Marcy’s story.
King James Bible 1
The first bible is located in the Old Church in the Harrows district, where you met Marcy in the Saints and Sinners case. You will find it on a bench near the altar, where Marcy stood. The Bible will say:
Bible 1/15 Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
This bible represented the beginning of Marcy’s story when she arrived in New Eden with her husband, John Batcheler, a preacher. They were part of a group of settlers who came to the New World for religious freedom.
King James Bible 2
The second bible is located in the Harrows district, near the bridge that leads to the Market district. You will find it on a cart beside a tent where a merchant sells goods. The Bible will say:
Bible 2/15 Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
This bible represents the strict religious rules the Puritans followed in New Eden. They believed that they were the chosen people of God and that anyone who worshiped other gods or practiced magic was a sinner and a heretic. Marcy and John were among the few who disagreed with this doctrine and tried to teach the children a more tolerant and compassionate version of Christianity.
King James Bible 3
The third bible is located in the Market district, near the fountain in the center of the square. You will find it on a bench next to a flower pot, where a woman sits. The Bible will say:
Bible 3/15 Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.
This bible represents Marcy’s high esteem among the people of New Eden, especially the women and the children. She was a kind, generous, and intelligent woman who helped the poor, the sick, and the needy. She also taught the children how to read and write using the bible, a rare skill in those times. Many loved her, except for the Puritan leaders, who saw her as threatening their authority.
King James Bible 4
The fourth bible is located in the Market district, near the bakery where you can buy food and drinks. You will find it on a table inside the bakery, next to a pie and a cup. The Bible will say:
Bible 4/15 Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
This bible represents the happy times that Marcy and John had in New Eden before the trouble started. They were a loving couple who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, such as eating, drinking, and laughing. They also shared a passion for teaching and learning and often read the bible together.
King James Bible 5
The fifth bible is located in the Market district, near the blacksmith, where you can buy and upgrade weapons. You will find it on a shelf inside the blacksmith’s shop, next to a hammer and a sword. The Bible will say:
Bible 5/15 Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.
This bible represents Marcy and John’s first signs of trouble in New Eden when the Puritan leaders began to suspect them of heresy and witchcraft. They were accused of spreading false teachings and corrupting the children’s minds. They also faced hostility and violence from some townsfolk who believed the rumors. They had to defend themselves and their beliefs from the attacks of their enemies.

The sixth bible is located in the Market district, near the town hall, where you can meet and talk with the mayor and other important figures. You will find it on a desk inside the town hall, next to a quill and a paper. The Bible will say:
Bible 6/15 Matthew 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
This bible represents the cunning and courage that Marcy and John showed in their dealings with the Puritan leaders, who tried to intimidate and manipulate them. This bible represents the courage and faith that Marcy and John showed when they were arrested and sentenced to death by the Puritan leaders, who accused them of witchcraft and treason. They were dragged to the gallows, where they faced a hostile crowd and a rigged trial. They did not lose hope or renounce their beliefs, and they comforted each other with the words of the psalm.

The ninth bible is located in the Market district, near the well, where you can refill your water bottle and talk to some NPCs. You will find it on a bucket beside the well, where a boy is drawing water. The Bible will say:

This bible represents the blessing and reward that Marcy and John hoped to receive in the afterlife after they were martyred for their cause. The tenth bible is located in the Forest district, near the cabin, where you can meet and talk with the Native Americans. You will find it on a chest inside the cabin, next to a bow and a quiver. The Bible will say:
Bible 10/15 Romans 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
This bible represents Marcy and John’s friendship and alliance with the Native Americans, who lived in harmony with nature and respected their beliefs. They learned from them and taught them, and they exchanged gifts and knowledge. They also helped them fight against the Puritan invaders, who wanted to take their land and convert them by force.
King James Bible 11
The eleventh bible is located in the Forest district, near the lake where you can fish and swim. You will find it on a boat next to the lake, where a fisherman sits. The Bible will say:

This bible represents Marcy and John’s horror and danger in New Eden, where they encountered the evil and darkness lurking in the shadows. They also discovered the truth about the Puritan leaders, who were secretly worshiping the devil and practicing black magic. They were the ones who caused the plagues, the famines, and the wars that plagued the land. They also marked their followers with the number of the beast, 666.
King James Bible 13
The thirteenth bible is located in the Ruins district, near the graveyard, where you can find some ghosts and clues. You will find it on a tombstone in the cemetery, next to a cross and a flower. The Bible will say:
Bible 13/15 John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.
This bible represents the hope and faith that Marcy and John had in the resurrection and the life after death after the Puritans executed them. They believed that Jesus would raise them from the dead and that they would live again in his glory. They also left a message for their friends and followers, who buried them in the graveyard and mourned their loss.

The fourteenth bible is located in the Ruins district, near the lighthouse, where you can find some secrets and puzzles. You will find it on a shelf inside the lighthouse, next to a lantern and a map. The Bible will say:
Bible 14/15 Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
This bible represents Marcy and John’s legacy and influence in New Eden after they were gone. They were the world’s light, shining brightly in the darkness and inspiring many people to follow their example. They also left behind a map and a clue, which led to the location of the last bible and the final truth.
King James Bible 15
The fifteenth and final bible is located in the Ruins district, near the hidden cave where you can find the secret ending and the final boss. You will find it on a pedestal inside the hidden cave, next to a statue and a mirror. The Bible will say:
Bible 15/15 Revelation 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
This bible represents the end and the beginning of Marcy and John’s story, as well as the revelation and the mystery of their fate. They were the alpha and omega, the first and the last, who started and finished the cycle of events that shaped New Eden. They also revealed the secret of the hidden cave, a portal to another world, where they escaped and lived happily ever after.
